Home Remedies For Body Odor (Armpits Unpleasant Smell)

Body odor is the unpleasant smell which comes from a person’s body, because of the bacteria growing on it. The notion amongst people that perspiration or sweating causes body odor is wrong. It may surprise you, but it is not perspiration that causes leads to body odor, but the bacteria that gets accumulated on the skin. If you apply antiperspirants after showering in the morning, the sweat you accumulate will wash away the product and render you defenseless against daytime sweating. Remember, deodorants do not prevent sweating. They mainly mask the smell of the sweat on your skin.  Home Remedies For Body Odor

1. Baking soda:

  • Apply baking soda to clean arm pits and feet to minimize odor. You can also use baking soda for its odor-eating' capability. Just apply the powder to your dry underarms. It will kill bacteria and help absorb perspiration.                                                                                               

2. Lemon Juice

  • Cut one fresh lemon into two halves. Rub one half of the lemon on your underarms. Make sure the juice gets onto your skin. Allow it to dry on its own, and then take your shower. Follow this remedy once daily until the odor is gone completely.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar

  • Add 2 tsp of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and have it three times a day before meals. If you can’t stand its taste or smell, you may add a little honey to this mixture. This is a good remedy to reduce your excessive sweating too.

4. Wheat Grass 

  • Mix one or two tablespoons of wheat grass juice in one cup of water.Drink it on an empty stomach in the morning.Follow this routine daily until the body odor is gone.Warning: As wheat grass has a very strong taste, it may be nauseating for some people.

5. Rosemary

  • Add one-half cup of dried rosemary leaves to four cups of hot water. Allow it to steep for 10 minutes, and then add it to your bath water. Soak in this bath water for 15 to 20 minutes. Pat dry your skin. Follow this remedy once daily to smell nice throughout the day.Alternatively, mix eight to 10 drops of rosemary essential oil in one ounce of water and apply it under your arms as a deodorant.

6. Mint leaves

  •  Boil some mint leaves as required by you. Add the boiled water in the bath water and then take bath. A very effective way to keep desired body essence. You can use the boiled water aside for extra care of your underarms and other areas prone to sweating.

7. Honey

  • Add a tablespoon of honey to tepid water for a final rinse after your bath. It keeps a check on bad odor.

8. White Vinegar

  • Pour some white vinegar on a cotton ball and wipe your underarms with the cotton. while the vinegar smell would fade in some time, you would remain smell-free for the rest of the day.

9. Tomato Juice

Crush the tomatoes to get their pulp.Using sieve, extract the juice out of tomato pulp.Add this tomato juice to a  bucket full of water.If you need more water for bath, increase the quantity of tomatoes.
10. Turnip

Cut two or three turnips into small pieces and put them in a blender to make a paste.Put the paste into a sieve and press it with a spoon to extract the juice.Apply this juice to your underarms and groin area.Allow it to dry on its own, and then rinse it off with lukewarm water.Use this remedy each morning to keep yourself free from body odor for at least 10 hours.
