Home Remedies To Fight Loose Motion


Children everywhere bring immense joy to everyone. It is natural for every parent to get worried and anxious when their child falls sick. Loose motions in kids are one of the most common ailments seen by pediatricians in their everyday practice. Loose motions or diarrhea as they call it in medical terms is frequent passage of loose and watery stool more than 3 times in a day, sometimes it can exceed even 8 to 10 times. There are many causes for loose motion in kids; it can be due to simply overeating, or perhaps due to food allergies and indigestion. People may have diarrhea once or twice every year. The condition is more frequent in children. Loss of water from the body can cause dehydration. It also results in weakness, loss of appetite; stomach pain etc. loose motion usually lasts for 2-3 days and can be treated with home remedies or any over the counter medicines. In some people, diarrhea is a part of irritable bowel syndrome or occurs due to chronic disease of the large intestine. In such conditions medical treatment is necessary.. Here are some of the home remedies for treating diarrhea in infants.

Home Remedies To Fight Loose Motion 

1. Fenugreek Seeds


  • Take one to two teaspoons of dried fenugreek seeds and powder it in a blender to reduce it into fine powder.Now mix this powder in a glass of water and take it every day in the morning on an empty stomach for two to three days to completely get relief from loose motions.

2. Sugar


  • 1 teaspoon of sugar and equal amount of salt can be mixed in the cooled boiled water and provided after each bowel movement. This helps to restore the lost ions and water from the body.

3. Mint


  • Mint is very valuable in treating diarrhea It may be given in any form. If one teaspoon of mint juice is given with a teaspoon of lime juice and one teaspoon of honey, it shows excellent result. This mixture may be given two or three times a day.

4. Curry Leaves 


  • Make a paste of curry leaves and mix 1 tablespoon of curry leaves in half cup of buttermilk have this mixture 3-4 times a to cure Losse  motion.

5. Mustard Seeds


  • Take 1/4 teaspoon of mustard seeds and add it to 1 tablespoon water. Soak it for 1 hour and then drink that water 2 or 3 times a day.

6. Ginger Powder


  • Take 1/2 teaspoon dried ginger powder or you can also take a small piece of fresh ginger. Pound it and add it to buttermilk. Take this buttermilk 3-4 times to cure losse motion.

7. Carom Seeds


  • Take a spoonful of carom seeds with a pinch of salt. Gulp it down with water for relief. You may also infuse water with these seeds by boiling them together. Consume at least 2-3 glasses of this water in a day to get relief.

8. Pomegranate


  • Take 2-3 spoons of this powder and boil in the water.Have this tea after you have had your meal. You can also add the pomegranate juice in your regular diet for fluid management during loose motions. Pomegranate also discourages nausea and vomiting. Another way of consuming it is by adding it to yogurt. Yogurt increase the potency of this already strong remedy against loose motion


9. Raw Papaya


  • Grate a raw papaya and put in a bowl that contains three cups of water.Boil the raw papaya in water for about 10 minutes.Strain the water and drink it once it becomes warm.Drink this two to three times a day till you feel a reduction in loose motion.

10. Brown Rice

  • Eating a special food prepared with brown rice is very helpful in curing loose motion as it contains a significant amount of vitamin B. This brown rice remedy helps in calming many symptoms of diarrhea. You have to boil a cup of brown rice to prepare this food. Once the rice is boiled and mild enough you can then add one ripe banana with it. You should eat the preparation three times in a day to get the quickest result.

11. Mango Juice


  • Mix half cup of sweet mango juice, 25 gram of yogurt and one spoon of ginger juice and drink it. It will cure to loose motions.
